ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Fueled by a sub-par round by senior Carter Wells, Barnesville picked up a quartet of victories Monday afternoon at Belmont Hills Country Club.
The Shamrocks posted a solid 160, which was eight shots better than St. Clairsville. Union Local (198), Martins Ferry (209), Magnolia (210) and Bridgeport also took part.
Wells posted an impressive round of 2-under and didn’t record a bogey. Backing him was classmate Dryden Bauman, who was the only other player in the field to break 40 and he posted a 39.
Buckeye Local tops Harrison Central
CADIZ — The Panthers posted a 12-shot victory against rival Harrison Central Monday afternoon at Cadiz Country Club.
Buckeye’s Aiden Polanski shot a 42, which was one better than teammates Jacob Berry and Josh Kerkuta, to take medalist honors.
Ferry sweeps Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT — Martins Ferry opened the Jaela Koller era in grand fashion, sweeping homesteading Bridgeport inside John J. Havlicek Gymnasium.
The Purple Riders prevailed by scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-16.
Ferry was led by sophomore Sydney Koller’s five aces and six kills. Lyndsay Best had four blocks and four kills. Bridgeport was led by Kaylee Bain’s seven digs. Josalyn Canter had two aces and three kills, while Vanessa Mullen had 11 digs. Erica Marling had three kills and Brooke Stewart had five assists.
Toronto tops Harrison in five
TORONTO — The Red Knights opened with a thrilling five-set victory against Harrison Central Monday evening.
Toronto prevailed by scores of 30-28, 14-25, 34-32, 13-25 and 15-11.
Harrison Central was led on the stat sheet by senior McKayla Dunkle’s 29 kills and 12 blocks. Logan Johnson added 39 assists and Maddy Butler produced 15 digs. Danica Rensi and Johnson each had 16 points.
