Eight people, including several pedestrians, were rushed to hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision in downtown Toronto on Boxing Day.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. near Yonge and Richmond streets.

According to police, the drivers of a silver Kia and a white Hyundai collided.

Both motorists were travelling westbound moments before the crash. The 22-year-old driver of the Kia was in the left lane, while the 32-year-old Hyundai driver was in the middle one.

Investigators said the Hyundai driver turned left across the path of the Kia driver, which caused him vehicle to roll on its side and strike “multiple pedestrians.”

In total, eight people were taken to hospital. Two of them were in life-threatening condition.
