Local Tourism Operator Wins Sustainable Tourism Award

A local tourism operator, in operation for a quarter century, has won the Sustainable Tourism Award at the Canadian Tourism Awards in Ottawa.

Chair of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, Brenda O’Reilly says it’s the second time Rick and Debbie Stanley of OceanQuest have won the award.

“Which I think is a record” she laughs.

The Sustainable Tourism Award is presented to a business or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the practice and promotion of responsible and sustainable tourism in Canada.

Ocean Quest operates out of St. John’s, Petty Harbour and Conception Bay South and has developed a worldwide reputation for its commitment to nature interpretation and protection.

5 organizations and individuals were honoured last night as recipients of the 2021 Canadian Tourism Awards, presented by The Toronto Star & WestJet, and hosted by Ottawa Tourism.
