Toronto raising money for trip

TORONTO — The Toronto football team is fundraising for a trip added to the schedule due to a cancellation in Week 5 of the season. The Red Knights will be traveling to Lakota High School in Kansas, Ohio, on Sept. 17 and plans to stay overnight and visit the football facility at Tiffin University for a walk through and pregame meal. The team has a fundraising goal of $1,500 on GoFundMe to cover the cost of lodging for the players, and so far, has raised more than $900.

The fundraising campaign was organized by head coach Josh Franke.

“This is a great opportunity for our boys to visit a college campus, see how a college football team prepares, and give them a goal to aim for during their high school career,” Franke said on the fundraising page. “It also gives the team an excellent opportunity to bond as a team.”
