In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone talked about a reported spinoff about Ivan Drago that producer Irwin Winkler wanted to make.

‘They wanted another Rocky,’ he explained. ‘And I was willing to do it. But I said, “After 45 years, can we change the playing field a little bit? Level it out? Can’t I get a piece of what I created all these years ago?”‘

He continued by talking about executive producer credits, noting that he’s not an executive producer on any of the Creed films even though he’s listed as a producer on his IMDb page.

Stallone went on to say that the creative team took the project in a different direction that he would’ve.

‘It’s a different philosophy — Irwin Winkler’s and Michael B. Jordan’s. I wish them well, but I’m much more of a sentimentalist,’ he said in the interview. ‘I like my heroes getting beat up, but I just don’t want them going into that dark space. I just feel people have enough darkness.’
