The Legend of Joey Votto
May 20 2022
With the Reds in town, Ben and Stephen look at the career of Joey Votto . Then, who are the players throughout baseball that you would make sure to see in person? Ben made the effort when it came to Cabrera and Trout. Next, is someone like Juan Soto was to cost you Alek Manoah, would you do it? Ben wonders if Vladdy sits at #1, perhaps Manoah surpassed Bo Bichette for #2. Later a chat with Trent Rosecrans from The Athletic who has followed Joy Votto around for years and tells us about Votto’s passion for Canada, the Canadian baseball rivalry between East and West, his incredible 2021 bounce back year and a great behind the scenes look at the Canadian baseball legend. Trying To Hit Baseballs That Just Won’t Travel
May 20 2022
Stephen returns today and we kick off the show with MLB Analyst Jon Morosi and they debate the next steps for the Jays in terms of hitting and how to adjust to strong pitching by opponents and the fact the baseball does not travel as far this year. This will change the way they try to hit right handers. The dead ball along with being pitched to differently, this has prevented Vladdy from driving the baseball. Later we speak with Jennifer Botterill who is working tonight for Battle of Alberta Game 2. The attention has shifted to Mike Smith and whether or not he has burned out at this point of the season. Then how the Lightning were able to limit the Panthers offence and they are truly driven to complete this “Tampa Dynasty”The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliate.
Price For Soto Just Too Much For The Jays
May 19 2022
We are joined by Jeff Blair to discuss the Juan Soto rumours and why he is not totally buying it. Also, if he was available for real, bigger suitors like the Red Sox and Cubs would come sniffing. Now as far as the Blue Jays are concerned, The Nats could care less about prospects. Meaning – the starting point for any deal won’t include Vladdy but someone like Alek Manoah would have to be in there. Then some debate about trade rumours, how they have evolved and the impact of analytics. Later the amazing audio from Jimbo Fisher who is in a war of words with Nick Saban. Finally we hear from Joey Votto on his trip to Toronto this weekend and his feelings about coming home. Blip or Breakdown – All Eyes On Oilers Goalies
May 19 2022
Arash is in for Stephen today and they dive into the Jays and how Vladdy Jr is being pitched to so differently that he has nothing to swing at and it starting to force it. The pressure is not on Teoscar Hernandez who has yet to find a groove since his return from injury and historically it takes him a while to find his bat after being hurt. If Teo starts to swing, it opens everything up for the rest of the order. Later, Tiger Woods is quickly out of contention at The PGA and they debate how the endorsement game is just as hard to walk away from. Then we have a war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fischer. Then over to the Oilers/Flames and how Game 1 already exploited the Oilers weakness in net. Is Smith falters next game the Oilers will have to ask a 2nd string goalie to start a must-win Game 3. Mike Smith has already been named the starter for Game 2. Then an old fashioned debate with Ben and Arash about how the Leafs and their management has been let off the hook after their most recent first round loss.
