This is the 50th anniversary of the legendary hockey series between Canada and the Soviet Union which played out dramatically in the late Summer and early Fall of 1972.
Canada won the series 4 games to 3 with 1 tie game, taking the dramatic 8th & deciding game in Moscow when Paul Henderson scored the winning goal with 34 seconds remaining.
Author Sean Mitton has released a book on the series entitled ” When Canada Shut Down “.
He spoke to Fred Wallace about the book and the progression of the story through the years.
” When Canada Shut Down ” compiles a variety of memories from the 1972 Summit Series between Team Canada and the Soviet Union.
The memories come from those involved on the ice, those behind the scenes and from those who have vivid memories of where they were as the Summit Series unfolded.
